New One-Month Braces Launch in The UK
Dentists Reveal Revolutionary and Speedy Orthodontic Treatment
London, UK- 22 January 2008 - The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (www.bacd.com), the not-for-profit organisation and leading educational entity for the advancement and ethical delivery of cosmetic dentistry, today unveiled an entirely new and staggeringly quick orthodontic procedure: the Inman Aligner, which are removable braces that are barely visible and required to stay on for only 4-16 weeks.
The new procedure, already available in America, now provides people in the UK with a choice other than traditional 12-month (or longer) orthodontic treatment and cosmetic veneers, which generally require a small amount of the tooth surface to be prepared. The Inman Aligner is a removable single brace with a thin clear bar across the front, that quickly straightens the front teeth (4-16 weeks) with very little adjustment needed from the dentist.
According to Dr. Tif Qureshi, BACD Board Member and one of the first dentists in the UK to offer the procedure;

There are many different types of braces on the market, but most need to be kept on for at least 12 months. Dentists suggest that the Inman Aligner be worn for 16 -20 hours each day for optimal results, and the one-piece brace can be removed if desired for photos or social events such as a party or wedding. Currently there are a number of modern alternatives to traditional braces such as invisible and lingual braces (braces put on the back of teeth), but all often require at least a 12-month commitment and most alternatives cost much more that the Inman Aligner. Faced with these time-consuming choices, many adults decide on veneers instead, as they appear to be the most time-efficient alternative (although they do require a small amount of tooth surface to be removed), but the new procedure will now offer everyone more options. The Inman Aligner works best for mildly and moderately crowded front teeth, so not every patient is suitable, but it can also be used before veneers are placed on the teeth to quickly straighten them, which will mean much less tooth needs to be prepared than if the teeth were considerably crooked.
