Question:
The patient's concern is her "Manhattan skyline" lower incisors.  She is fine with her upper arch.  The dimensions of her lower teeth and arch are as follows:  ideal arch = 36.4; LL3 7.0; LL2 6.4;  LL1 5.6;  LR1 5.8;  LR2 6.2;  LR3 7.1;  total required space = 38.1;  crowding = 1.7mm.   Is this a suitable case for the Inman Aligner and would IPR alone suffice to create the space needed to correct the crowding?

Answer:
This is a great first case.  Ideal in fact. You may need a small anchor on the lingual of her LR2 inciso-distally and mesio-labially 2/3rd the way down to induce a rotation. You won't need to fit the anchors immediately, but later after 4 weeks it will be clear as the instanding tooth will move more quickly than this one.  Also perform a little IPR distal to the canines, but tell the technician so he can reset these.  You will probably need to tighten the springs after about 6 weeks.  The Spacewize analysis reveals that the crowding in this case is well within the 3mm recommended for successful treatment.
