Upper teeth simple case crowding less than 3mm.
This patient was a 25 year old female who over the last 3 years had noticed her upper teeth becoming more crowded. Her upper right central was proclining, her upper left central was slightly retroclining and her upper left lateral was proclining and distally rotating. She had considered alternative options including fixed orthodontics, invisible aligners and even veneers, the preparations of which would have been radical on the upper right central and the upper left lateral.
An Inman Aligner was considered because if the crowding present is less than or equal to 3mm, no extractions are necessary and treatment time is far shorter than conventional methods.
The teeth were aligned within 11 weeks.
She was instructed the use the retainer full time for a month and then to switch to night time wear only.

Upper teeth mild case crowding more than 3mm.
This patient was a 14 year old at the time of treatment. His upper incisors were rotating and his upper left lateral was drifting palatally. This caused his upper centrals to appear too dominant. He had recently been to an orthodontist who had suggested removal of four second premolar teeth followed by a period of fixed brackets.
An Inman Aligner was considered because if the crowding present is less than or equal to 3mm, no extractions would be necessary.
Space calculation showed that 3mm of crowding was present
The teeth were aligned within 6 weeks. The Aligner was then left in at night time only as a retainer for 4 weeks. The patient is wearing a night-time essix style retainer and has had no relapse 3 years after treatment.

Upper teeth complex case crowding more than 3.5mm.
This young lady had originally wanted 8 porcelain veneers on her upper anterior teeth. She was attending a wedding in 4 months and was almost going to have her preparations done at another practice when she heard about the Inman Aligner. The preparations would have meant that one or two of her incisors would have had root-treatments. She wanted the treatment done quickly and had totally ruled out having any brackets bonded to her teeth.
After full case options were given, she decided to have an Inman Aligner instead as most cases were completed in less than 16 weeks.
A standard Upper Inman Aligner was made and fitted. Interproximal reduction was carried out over 3 visits and the teeth aligned within 11 weeks. The aligner was used to passively retain the teeth for a further four weeks, after which a bonded wire retainer was placed and tooth home whitening was undertaken. No aggressive veneer preps were necessary and the ultimate ethical solution was found.
